Are you easily able to turn disappointment into a good outcome?

What would you do if you were honored to take part in a well known convention as a featured speaker with your own breakout session only to find your picture deleted close to the time of the event?

This happened to a number of us and we each handled the situation differently. Some apparently never followed up and never showed up. Those who did not follow-up missed out on a great opportunity not only to be seen by the audience but also to be seen professionally by the organizers.

My mindset of positive thinking produced a different outcome. I took a leadership stance as if nothing changed. Focusing on a better outcome, I communicated that I was completely prepared for the day’s event.

The organizer then conveyed attendance wouldn’t be as they hoped but that indeed they still wanted my expertise. I was then asked to appear on a panel for the 45+ crowd who is in the midst of figuring out the latter part of their life in terms of career or business.

The panel proved to be a perfect fit. As I imparted my insight I could see smiling faces and heads nodding up and down. Later, people were lined up to purchase product or at the very least take my information and leave theirs to keep in touch. Once again, I will be following-up with everyone involved.

In summary, the two best keys for business success is accepting opportunity when it arises and following up – always! When you follow these two steps, you will attract new and larger markets and close more sales. It will soon become a Smooth Sale!
