Communication consistency across all business practices and services is an unstated requirement.  Otherwise, you create confusion and brand dilution.  Consistency will build your brand best and ultimately serve to attract a larger clientele. Debit or Credit Card?

Upon being issued a gift debit card, registration and a unique pin were required.  After that effort was made, I attempted to use the debit card; not once but twice, but it would not work.  I called the company to change the pin, but instead of the third time being the charm, it was once again declined.

Persistence is in my nature, so I called the company.  The customer service rep, knowing that the card itself displays the word “debit”, suggested I use it as a credit card.  He assured me it would work.  I still don’t believe it, and now have to ask for a new card.

Low or High Fee?

A representative made it very clear that services in California by the same company incurred much higher fees.  Yet upon moving to our new state and switching residency on the account, a bill came at a much higher rate.  A call was made to the company to straighten it out.  The end result is we will be shopping competitive packages in the near future.

Returning and Referring Clientele: Communication Consistency Creates A Sought-After Brand

The goal of business should begin with developing a returning and referring clientele.  The examples provided above suggest otherwise.  At the first opportunity, competitors will be sought, unless one pays attention to the fact that communication consistency creates a sought-after brand.

Throughout a sales cycle, understanding between all parties is the first and last order of business.  And throughout, relationships should be built to one’s best ability.  Similarly, when complaints arise, ask for detail from start to finish.   Once you have a thorough understanding of all contributing factors leading to the difficulty, it will be easier to come up with a solution that is agreeable to all parties.

It is the understanding and willingness to find a reasonable solution that brings your clientele back again and again.  Relationship selling is what drives repeat business, referrals and testimonials and serves to create a sought-after brand.  The same applies to hiring managers and working with upper-level management.  This is the definition of the Smooth Sale!
