Accepting Collaborative Projects
The past couple of weeks have presented numerous “opportunities” to partake in paid programs, collaborate, host shows and be interviewed. Many of the fee-based projects sound wonderful and as if they would help break through the ceiling in place due to a recovering economy. An assumption is being made here that I am not alone, but that you, too, may be facing similar dilemmas.
How does one decide which project to take on?
Read these Guidelines for Accepting Projects:
1. Revisit your priorities.
Are you focused on paying off your bills first? Then consider the most far-reaching project that is free of charge first. As you begin bringing in revenue, then you will find it easier to incorporate a fee-based program. The advantage of waiting is the “bugs” will be worked out of the initial “fresh out of the gate” syndrome.
2. Do you feel in sync with the values held by the people putting the programs together?
Recently, in conversation with others, I recognized why we were attracted to the same group – we were very much in alignment with our business values. You can bet should any one of them come up with a collaborative project, I will want to learn more.
3. Will the vision of the project fast track your business to your ultimate vision?
We are all in time defecit. So rather than acting as a good friend might, put professionalism first because time is precious. Choose the project that will streamline your goals. You will stand a far better chance for achieving them.
By adhering to these guidelines, you will do a far better job building your personal brand thereby attracting a wider prospective clientele. And implementing these tips will make the process seem as if it were all a Smooth Sale!
