Attract The Right Job Or Clientele:

Multi-media postings reveal it’s time for discussion among those ready to improve upon hot topics. Where one turns, we can see the desire among many to improve our work and societal environments on many levels.

Choices are ours for how we are each to proceed.  We can choose to rebel with others against poor policies in place, begin by refreshing what we have in place to produce far better results or find our group to further a just cause to make a difference.

My Story

The past week alone, tweets, questions about articles of the day, email, frequent online tagging, notices about webinars, and video links in addition to conversations have come my way.  One common theme is that the people are more than ready to improve upon hot topics, and I align.

One common theme among younger people is facing bullying and how to deal with it.  I grew up with the lesson that no one else will if I don’t stand up for myself.  And so, by age five, I was well on my way to fighting for equality.  But the day of equality never arrived in all of the following years behind us up until today.  We can only look to the future to hope things will get better, but that will only occur when many are ready to improve on hot topic insights.

Many have read the book, Top-Down Selling; the experience of the author gives valuable insight.  But curiously, since I was the lone saleswoman and executives used to wonder why I had the gall to approach them, I did the opposite; my niche was bottom-up selling.  Upon building relationships and making friends with the seemingly low-level employees, they were the ones who demanded the executives give me serious consideration.

Mirroring the experience, management will do well to hear out their’ lower-level employees’ to realize issues that don’t typically reach their desks but require improvement. Most of all, companies will curate employee loyalty if they begin to treat everyone as an equal instead of the traditional tiers of importance.  When we finally realize that totem poles are to disappear in the corporate arena, and instead work toward fair equity, plus diversity and inclusion, so much more is to be gained.

A Sales Tale Equality Example

Long ago, I knew of one company (only one) that would purposefully cross-train employees once they were comfortable in their current role. By helping to familiarize employees with varying positions, they were able to gain more knowledge about the business, provide better assistance to customers, and offer ideas for improvement to management. At the same time, employees were able to groom their careers and rise within the organization. Employee loyalty was evident.

A corporate team exercise idea is to ask members to recognize and share a current theme in progress that they see repeatedly. Have a team discussion about the topic and then raise the question: Are you ready to improve on hot topics? An in-depth discussion will follow, but it will only be effective when everyone feels included. The mutual respect and attention given to each will encourage everyone to contribute. Accordingly, the effort serves the betterment of the team and the company, including the bottom line.

Collectively, you are likely to gain much understanding to realize a better path ahead.  You can use the idea selectively with those you trust to help you voice it or present it to an executive who is not likely to steal your idea.  I bring up the possibility of not receiving acknowledgment for a worthwhile idea due to the lack of trust is another hot topic.

Be aware that we often downplay what we know; it is up to us to build up our confidence, take an occasional calculated risk, and move forward with our thought. Sometimes ideas turn out to be awful, and other times, they succeed better than we hope for, but it all begins with taking the first baby step that may eventually put you in a leadership role.
