Attract the Right Job or Clientele:  

Are Your Systems Falling Behind?

Years ago, we enjoyed the service of a top ranked car rental agency due to business travel, but we sadly witnessed their systems falling behind. It was sad from all perspectives to witness the decline in service.

The customer service “experience” included:

  • Reservation was not honored
  • 45-minute conversation delay tactic
  • Endless upsell attempts (added options eg. larger car, gas pre-paid, extra insurance…)
  • Anger was expressed by the agent for our refusing the options

Due to the systems falling behind, and our need for a rental car one more time, we chose a less admired company.  Much to our delight the client service was superior:

  • Reservation was honored
  • Time from entry to departure was 10 minutes
  • An upsell was not attempted
  • We heard “Thank You” for doing business with us!

This experience prompted us to ask how they could be be so quick while another service is so slow, and could not honor the reservation. The agent knew immediately to whom we were referring.  He responded with, “they are notorious for not having updated their software”.

Really? A model company once upon a time could not see the importance of keeping up with the times.

Education and training are continual requirements for entrepreneurs, employees and employers holding the desire to earn a returning and referring clientele.

In this regard, I encourage you to review all venues currently in place do avoid systems falling behind. For example:

  • Are you familiar with the most current thought of the day per sales and business development?
  • Is there an area in which you keep meaning to educate yourself but haven’t gotten around to yet?
  • Is your computer up to date?

Wherever you go and with whomever you communicate, people will be acknowledging what you say and do. More importantly, they will provide feedback to those they know. And on social media, you definitely want all of this to be highly positive given the global reach potential.

Every morning, before you get ready for the day, give some thought to your bigger vision and what you would ultimately like to accomplish. Remind yourself of the must-do’s for the day, and then add in one or two extras for gaining greater expertise in your field. The added effort will fast track you toward your larger vision.

Best of all, you will establish yourself as a leader in your field. People will take note. Out of all this, you will build a respected personal and business brand. And this is the juncture where opportunities, requests and increased sales come your way as if a magic wand were waved
