Retracing Steps to Begin Anew 

Have you ever made an error that felt like a major “whoops”?  This applies to career, entrepreneurship, and personal endeavors.  Many times these events involve other people.  Speaking from personal experience, apologies are usually in order!  

The following information is cruicial for repairing and building further trust in you and your personal brand.  You demonstrate your leadership qualifies and why you should be hired or treated as a desired business partner. Ultimately, the approach outlined below, becomes a part of your marketing and sales effort too.  The better policy is to be of the mindset to correct where you went astray.

The good news/bad news is, I actually became quite good at politely apologizing.  Done well, you can claim it as a sales strategy. 🙂  In this case, “the glass is half full” and you are then able to fill it once again to the top.  The key is to be humble while admitting the error.  In as few words as possible, relay where you erred and the ramifications involved. Then ask forgiveness. Include a request to once again move forward together.

Reasonable people agree to move forward.  This so called “strategy” works for many reasons including, you let the other person know they were right, sincere apologies are difficult to turn down, and the apology serves to build an even stronger bond bewteen the two of you.  

In case you are wondering, yes, my apology was accepted and I’m back on track.  One effort that proved to be dismal will be righted leading to a bright outlook many future experiences of the Smooth Sale!
