Tired of Phone Tag?
Everyone is so busy today, it is becoming increasingly difficult to connect by phone to have a nice converssation. We spend wasted time playing phone tag trying to reach a recruiter, a hiring manager, or a prospective client as well as our personal friends who are equally busy.
Put a stop to the game with this straight-forward and time saving strategy:
1. Leave a phone message including the fact you will send a follow-up email offering possible times to connect
2. eMail immediately, (before you forget) indicating you are keeping your promise to follow up with times you are you available to connect
Finer points to include (but in your own words):
– Per my telephone message, it may be easier for you to respond via email
– Please choose the best date and time; should none of these work then suggest alternates and I will confirm
– List the dates and times of availability underneath one another so it’s easier to read
– I look forward to connecting
All of the above builds trust ~ the essential for getting hired or making the sale. And as far as busy friends are concerned, they get the idea you are busy too, and appreciate the ease in which you handle the situation.
In all of my years of corporate sales and entrepreneurship, this strategy has always worked. It shows you are putting yourself in the other person’s shoes, and are trying to save valuable time in order to establish or maintain a good working relationship and possible friendhsip. Being steadfast of maintaining this mindset offers a marketing message that serves to improve your business development as well as attract a larger and more engaged clientele. Obviously, this is the perfect technique for establishing interviews, too.
Implementing this strategy establishes credibility, the relationship and the Smooth Sale!
