Moving bad karma to good karma

Please be forewarned as this post is an unusual story that speaks to mindset and philosophy of building a better business or seeking work. If you want the end note upfront ~ occasionally bad things happen.  But, we each have the ability to pull out of it to make something positive come from the experience.    Here is my personal story:

By today’s standards, an antique wedding dress came into my possession prior to getting married many years ago.  Although old-fashioned, the silk material and old-world detailing were exquisite.  The one piece included an amazing long train with a wrist band underneath for dancing.  I chose to wear it for my wedding.

Everyone, and I mean Everyone, made dreadful predictions of how I would look, and proclaimed I was insane to even contemplate wearing the dress.  My personal brand includes stubborness.  The talented dressmaker had the dress fitting to perfection.  Afterward some apologized for their awful comments.  But, sadly the story continues with another claiming the dress as hers.  It was taken out of my hands by a relative and kept in her garage for many years.  Just prior to her untimely death, it was given back to me.  Tears swelled up upon the impact of seeing the gown again.

I am fortunate to be very happily married all of these years but possessing the gown did not add to the merriment.  I came to the conclusion it was bad karma and sought a way to correct the situation.  Our Petaluma Museum from time to time proudly displays antique wedding gowns.  As a community service offering, I donated the gown yesterday to the museum.  The wedding gown will now rest in peace and be admired by many.

Through the years, I have met many who lost jobs or who had to overcome incredible obstacles as detailed in my book, INSPIRED Business.  The one element we all have in common is that we analyze where we went astray, turned the events around to better Karma, and most often the missing piece was community service of some form.

When you have good karma, you attract far greater interest in you and what you have to offer.  This is the path that will lead to a  Smooth Sale!
