Does Real Life Ever Apply to Sales?

The above question applies to the theme of the show I will be enjoying with Host Andre’ Harrell on Tuesday, July 16.  My answer is an emphatic Yes!  In fact, observing others in every day situations brings many lessons appropriate for sales and securing your desired job.

This week a young couple excitedly relayed they were able to purchase a home.  But as the story unraveled, I heard a number of things that do apply very closely to the sales cycle.  Negotiation was the major topic.  In my estimation, the negotiation wasn’t strong enough; the seller came down but not much.  And, in my opinion, the real estate agent did not encourage a strong negotiation on the part of the buyers.

Next, upon paying for an inspection, it was discovered that the foundation had a problem.  The seller didn’t want to pay to fix it.  Luckily, this time around, the young couple knew to stand up for themselves, be strong, and request repair to be paid for by the seller as well as a new inspection report afterward. They further stated that they would walk if this were not agreed upon.  Hooray for the tough negotiation!

Any purchase or sale has to be beneficial for all parties including any representative that may be involved..  Goodwill needs to exist alongside good karma for a happy experience.  In sales it is the repeat business, referrals and testimonials that make you successful.  And for job seekers, the overall experience needs to be pleasant upfront or you may be headed for difficulty.  Observing this life lesson will put you on the wave of the Smooth Sale!

This is the path that will lead to a  Smooth Sale!
