Should I confirm the appointment?

This is a very personal question as everyone has their opinion on how to handle the subject.  The best thing to do is what you believe is best for you.  With that said, here are my suggestions both for job interviews and business:

1.   On occasion we don’t write the date down and so it’s a “have to” in order to be certain we don’t waste another’s time.

2.  Time zones can be confusing even with online help.  Someone may live in a lesser known area of the country or city – have them confirm.

3.  A potential client was “iffy” about meeting – you don’t want your time wasted either.

4.  Long distances need to be travelled for you to meet – by all means confirm.

5.  On the other hand, if you have a long awaited appointment, within your vicinity, my belief is when you call to confirm, it offers the other party an opportunity to cancel.  The worst case is, you arrive and the other party isn’t available.  In this case, they now owe to meet the next time – not too bad for worst case.
