Three Strategies to Increase Your Sales Achievement
Real life experiences are often the best teachers, so today’s blog shares three strategies to increase your sales achievement. This morning was no exception. Frustrated by someone supposedly representing my interests, but unable to produce required documents, I recognized it was time to help him with my sales effort in order to relieve my stress.
When stalemated salespeople are motivated to take action to achieve their goals.
I was highly motivated to get the documentation needed to make a sound decision before moving forward. Much time passed after numerous requests were supposedly made to acquire that paperwork. My representative said his requests were ignored and that the company is unresponsive. This alone could easily have dissuaded my decision to move forward.
Be True to Self
Recognizing I owed myself the time to take action, the following three sales strategize were utilized:
- Make it easy for the other person
- Duplicate one message with two communication styles for prospect to choose favorite
- Express appreciation for help
Action Example: Increase Your Sales Achievement
This morning, I picked up the phone to get the name of the appropriate person in charge for sending the documentation. My favorite sales strategy is to leave a voice mail and advise that a duplicate email will be sent in case it is easier for them to communicate that way. The last sentence is to acknowledge their help and relay their time spent on my behalf is greatly appreciated.
Immediately after leaving the voice message, a follow-up email is sent. The first sentence indicates that I was the one who left the voice mail, and the second sentence advises that they select their preferred style of communication. The email is kept to two very brief paragraphs, and the third is one sentence that again expresses appreciation in advance for their help.
Results
In comparison to several weeks of no response, within three hours, I received the nicest reply. The note included current updates, the requested documents, and acknowledgement that the sender of the reply email is looking forward to meeting me. Needless to say, my “representative” was astonished.
For career purposes whether on the job already and communicating with management, or as a job seeker attempting to get the interview or the position, use the same strategy. People admire the thoughtfulness and will be more inclined to provide what you ask.
