Direct Communication Works Best
Through the years I’ve noticed some people do not know how to communicate directly and it hurts their chances for getting what they desire. Here are some of those errors:
– Repeating thoughts unnecessarily
– Ignoring the question, providing a different answer
– Literally talking in circles and providing a long, uninteresting dialogue
Trust me, if anyone interviews in a manner as described above, they will not get the job or the sale. Have you ever tuned out upon encountering someone who did this to you? The old saying of “treat others as you expect to be treated” always holds true.
To maximize your interviews, your relationships with prospects and clients, and receive a larger negotiated package or sale, you must be concise and on target with your communication. The underlying marketing message is you can be trusted and brings about added confidence in your ability to get the job done. The same is true for interacting with prospects and clients. Interviewing is just another venue for selling. In this case, you are literally selling yourself.
