Dress Rehearsal

Shakespeare stated, “All the world is a stage and each must play his part.”  

Relating the above quote to interviewing and sales, it is wise to prepare with a dress rehearsal.  To clarify, I’m not suggesting you act out a part, but instead, authentically rehears how you wish to come across so that the hiring manager or prospective client can vividly see who you are and indicative of your true personal brand.  

People buy you first.  Once the trust is there, they then consider your product, service or talent.  Therefore dress rehearsal is critical.  Dressed as you would go on the appointment, prepare a short two minute story about yourself, not memorized but with the high points in mind.  

Practice in front of a mirror to see that you use friendly gestures and body language, and most importantly smile as much as possible.  The smile invites further conversation. Finding the commonality moves you closer to the sale.
