Are you seizing opportunity?

My sales credo is, if you don’t try, your answer will always be No. However if you do try, you automatically stand a 50-50 chance for getting a yes or a no from your prospect. Now when you add sales techniques that work, you increase your odds for a Yes!

You can bet, I packed extra copies of both of my books because I have an idea that is “out there” however there is always a possibility I will hear “YES!” It was a good thing I packed extra copies because..

On the first flight and the connecting flight to our destination I had the good fortune of being seated next to two different men who were intrigued by my new book entitled, HIRED! How to Use Sales Techniques To Sell Yourself On Interviews, Career Press. The first told me to seek out the CEO at a convention being held down the road from where we are staying, introduce myself as a speaker and provide a copy of the book. You can bet I followed his orders. I began the beginning of a relationship with the Event Manager and gave her the suggested copy to give to her CEO; she meanwhile asked I contact her upon my return.

The second gentleman and I spoke about his being a sales trainer for a large corporation. We exchanged stories and had a good laugh. He then said he also works with the women’s association within his organization, upon which I handed him a postcard of my first book, Nice Girls DO Get the Sale. He also asked me to call when I return.

Luckily I packed plenty of books and had enough to not only give to the dignitaries with the Bell Captain’s help, but the Bell Captain also requested a copy. So I was a busy lady seizing opportunity while on vacation. The rest of the time, I enjoyed being away with my husband and his childhood friends and spouses. You might say it was a very fruitful weekend.

Whether you seek business or an interview, you must think creatively at all times to contemplate how you may position what you have to attract attention of others. And when given the opportunity to seize a moment – take it and hopefully you will be the next in line to hear a YES!
