Sell More with the mindset of the Holidays

The Holiday Season is about the spirit of giving.  But what if you were to use this philosophy all year round – will it make a difference?  I’m not referring solely to monetary giving but the “spirit” in giving the best of yourself to serve your clientele.

My lesson came when I was begrudgingly employed by a company that did not want women on their sales team back in the early 90’s.  They did everything imaginable to get me to quit but I refused.  On top of the treatment, there was no training and no one spoke to me.  

It was a lonely time, so when prospects did invite me into their office, I would first ask why they did so to know what to “repeat”.  And then I got deep into conversation both on a professional and personal level due to the need to communicate with someone.  Everyone said I was so different they asked me to bring in brochures the next time in order to purchase from me.  

Becoming the top producer by the 4th month without knowing anything about what I was selling brought questions of “How are you doing it?”

The lesson was: truly care about your clientele, next hiring manager and all else with whom you come into contact.  You never know where your next job or sale will come from but caring will increase your odds.
