Belief and Vision Require Details!

Mr. Jackson´s right eye

Many years ago, straight from college – a friend and I began a company named Details Details.  We visualized a party planning service for companies.  We offered highly creative ideas for maximum fun and the right exposure to attract new clients.

It was so novel for two young women to start their own business in those years that the Los Angeles Times sent a reporter to capture our story.  Her motherly advice was to focus on the smallest possible detail to pinpoint the concept that nothing was out of the realm of possibility for us to handle.

Blue Chip Stamps were popular then.  Dependent upon your total amount of purchase, grocery stores and retail outlets would provide blue chip stamps to collect in a booklet.  You would exchange these for household goods such as cookware.

My suggestion was for the photographer to take a picture of us pasting the blue chip stamps in my mother’s booklet.  Our picture wound up not only on the front cover of the Los Angeles Times entertainment news, but it also appeared on the cover of Mademoiselle Magazine!

Intersecting my story with entrepreneurs wanting to attract more prospects and sales, and job seekers wanting to attract more interviews, everyone needs the belief they are good enough to get what they desire and the vision they will succeed.  However the details of the plan or vision are required to make it happen.

For example, I hold the belief all my programs combined will make for a fabulous business retreat and I want to pick the perfect spot.  While anxious to announce the details, I need to have all logistics negotiated and in place prior to announcing the intended date in March 2011.

When you have the Belief, Vision and Detailed Plan in place – you have your business development plan and very effective marketing-communication flowing everywhere as to what you have to offer.  This is when people recognize you as a leader in your field.

I might be classified as a serial entrepreneur as Smooth Sale is my third business.  I learned a lot through the years and wrote about the most difficult sales and business lessons learned in my book, Nice Girls DO Get the Sale: Relationship Building That Gets Results which became an international best seller.

My new book is based on my experience and that of community service and appears to be following the same footsteps at the first – HIRED! How to Use Sales Techniques To Sell Yourself On Interviews.

May you Enjoy the Holiday Season and Always Experience the Smooth Sale in 2011!
