Transform Errors into Golden Opportunity!

I will be brutally honest.  Today was a day I made a huge error.  Excited about doing a tele-seminar all by myself, I was off to a great start until… the phone rang.  I forgot to unplug it.  In my haste to prevent a second ring, I quickly unplugged both phones including the one which I was using!  Talk about OMG – that was it.  However, my sales experience has taught me how to transform errors into golden opportunity!

Undaunted, I phoned each person who originally called in.  I let them know due to my error, I would be sending them the recording of “How to Use Sales Techniques to Sell Yourself On Interviews” based upon my book, HIRED!  I went a step further.  Recognizing a need for a “value-add” bonus, I volunteered that a PDF document for note-taking with pictures of slides to follow along with the recording would also be sent.  Everyone was delighted.  

It then occurred to me, that all of this information was not only based upon my own experience but that of community service helping groups of job seekers land the jobs they desired.  The privilege of having all of this information, knowing it worked so well for me and those I helped, I recognized this is my golden opportunity to help many more people.  So if you or anyone you know is out of work, changing jobs, or beginning to interview – please tell them to email their requests to: [email protected] – and I will send them the files as soon as possible.  

Should you be an entrepreneur, the same principle holds true.  Out of the ashes can comes a golden opportunity.  You just need to be aware of the process to critically analyze what just happened and how you can turn the situation around.  It takes the positive mindset that your error may be rescued for a greater good.  The first step is to apologize for the error and then create a way that will be beneficial for all concerned.
