Find Your Niche

Big Heart of Art - 1000 Visual Mashups

When I began Smooth Sale, a marketing expert advised, “You must find your niche”.  She was referring to the core of my talent, interest and expertise.  By focusing on these, I would build a solid foundation by attracting those people in need of my innate sales ability.

As we grow in knowledge, confidence and ability, we are then able to expand outward.  This is true whether you are a student, a job seeker, or a business owner.  As long as your expansion is consistent with your core business, you widen your reach to attract larger numbers of prospects, clients and bigger sales or the better career.

Today I had the best laugh.  Two years ago, someone was sent to my office to actually bless my computer because I was having so much technical difficulty.  This was the time I began to study social media.  Over time, I became adept and my following increased nicely.

This morning, I was introduced to a MAC users’ group.  It was noticeable I was the youngest attendee.  Within the hour, I was asked if I would present to the users’ group in the near future on the topic of social media and video technology.

The irony of going from having my computer blessed to being asked to present to a users’ group is enormous and one I’m enjoying immensely.  But the fact of the matter is, when you are willing to “put yourself out there” by taking a huge leap of faith, somehow you find your way to not drown but rise to the top.  Finding your niche also works wonders.  The two combined bring about a very Smooth Sale!
