Focus Brings Improved Results
Sometimes we need to step away from what we believe is focused work to take a breather. In so doing, when we are in a relaxed state, we find new-found clarity redefines our focus which brings about greatly improved results.
Although still chilly weather, we took a walk on the beach. Few people were there, the water was sparkling and our feet loved the warmth of the sand as we walked a good mile along the coast. In the zone of enjoying our surroundings, I stated out loud what clearly came to me as my next best route for business. I was given the nod of approval. Had I merely been staring at the computer wading through the “must-do’s” instead, my moment of clarity and focus for new direction would have taken much longer.
For me, it’s a matter of what I enjoy doing most that matters as well as include natural talent and interests. For me sales has always been my natural talent. My secret is to simply make friends and build relationships with prospects to the point of hearing them ask permission to purchase from me.
Interests sometimes require continued education. Marketing and marketing-communictation were areas of which I held little comfort but continually studied from my early days as an entrepreneur. My mindset was fixated on learning to write copy and communicate clearly. This led to authoring two books (HIRED! and Nice Girls DO Get the Sale) which turned out to be a fabulous journey.
Today I am very much into social media and the opportunities it brings for business and those seeking work. Job seekers and entrepreneurs may easily present themselves as the expert through blogs and tweets. I have connected with many wonderful people through the popular sites.
My next new advance is toward Video Technology infused into social media, email and newsletters. In addition I also have access to video conferencing and webinars rolled into one very attractive package. Once again, in a relaxed state, I recognized how valuable video is becoming and powerful it can be when coupled with social media and so I became actively involved.
Over the weekend, I encourage you to take time off in your relaxed setting to find clarity and renewed focus for your bigger vision. Just by adding fun into your life, you too will find a quicker route for your goals making for your own Smooth Sale!
