Call the People of Old to Renew Friendship and Possibility
An unexpected surprise came my way upon checking my LinkedIn account to renew friendship and possibility. A woman with whom I networked at events ten years ago sent a message my way. Darcie’s message became my priority.
It turned out she just wrote a book and asked that I read it. Knowing her brilliance, I replied I would look forward to reading. I added a note about our like-minds given my new book was released a week ago. Darcie likewise agreed to read mine.

Where salespeople are a little bolder is they look for opportunity to inquire about interest level of the other person. I asked Darcie if she might like to connect live one day to exchange insights about e-book marketing and other ideas to propel our businesses. Her answer was, Yes!
In order to get to “Yes” – You have to ask!

In your quiet time, begin thinking about your favorite past, current and prospective clientele plus peers. Create lists according to the more experienced, the interesting and the fun type of people.
What types of questions would you like to ask of them? You might discover a pattern of questions for which you would like help getting to their answers.

The Challenge of 10
Make it a point to contact ten of the people on your mind and on your list daily in addition to the other work needed to be tackled. Those ten calls or notes could make an enormous difference in business. The same is true for job seekers which to secure the right interview or advance their career.
The reason is those willing to reconnect with you are also looking for new collaborative ideas. You will have a brainstorming session in the making. The end result could very well be a brand new idea for moving forward better than ever before.
Exchange
The conversations could include an exchange of broad ideas, new marketing strategy, and how to improve upon what is already in place. Should you appear to be on the same page with one or several people, your exchange will become highly motivating to advance forward. An underlying motivator is you want to report back that you are making positive strides.
